PELANGGARAN MAKSIM DALAM NOVEL “NUTCRACKER AND MOUSE KING” KARYA E.T.A. HOFFMANN

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the maxim violations of the cooperation principles Grice in the Nutcracker and Mouse King by E.T.A. Hoffmann. This study used a descriptive qualitative research method with a pragmatic approach. The research data was obtained from the technique of reading, note-taking and qualitative content analysis. The results of this study show that in the object there are various violations of the principle of cooperation consists of four maxims: quality (5), quantity (15), relevance (11) and manners (9). The total of all maxim violations of the cooperation principle is (50).
